Move to Oust Cornell Launched by Democrats

Democrats opposed to Town Chairman John A. Cornell met last night to chart a reform push. The plan centers on revising party rules to bar executive members from holding city positions and on fielding a anti Cornell primary ticket at the city convention. Cornell dismissed the move as disorganized and said any challenge would be fought with the party’s vast base backing him.

Coroner Phelan Reserves Decision In Doran Shooting

Greshwich July 5 Inquest heard evidence that Ar dime Doran was accidentally shot in a cafe Sunday morning. James Briggs, a bartender and friend, drew a revolver from a drawer, fired twice at the floor, then pointed at Doran and fired again, a bullet entering Doran’s left side. Doran died in hospital yesterday and had said the shooting was accidental. Coroner John J. Phelan reserved his decision.

Washington reports the last stronghold of the Irish Irregulars in Dublin surrendered to Free State troops this afternoon. A cablegram notes the surrender time as 4:06 p.m with no further details.
