For the grammar school three teachers were hired Miss Indna Dyer of Shia city Miss Elizabeth Ennis of Derby and Miss Banawil Tame of Derby all graduates of last year's class of the State Normal School. The decision of the last meeting of the board to allow only children of six years of age to enter school met with opposition as expected. Several appeared and argued against this measure. The board decided to allow children who will be six years in March after the opening of the school to enter. To do away with any deception it will be necessary to prove the age of the children by birth certificates. Fourteen applications for positions as teachers were accepted and filed. Bills totaling 10098 including the salaries of the teachers to the end of the year were ordered paid. Resignations of two teachers were received and accepted. They were from Miss Elizabeth Brock who will teach in Ansonia and the former Miss Elizabeth Skieman who has been married.
