Separately Bridgeport officials said Rev Charles W Simpson may be jailed if he does not retract or prove charges against Police Commissioners.
Washington January 17. In the first test of strength on the Lausanne treaty the administration forces muster a two party vote strong enough to derail the pact on diplomatic and commercial relations with Turkey. The showdown on the second article concerning capitulations was approved 30 to 0 in executive session. A final vote on the treaty was expected tomorrow with opponents predicting rejection.
New York June 17. Painter Meyer Tuam alias Smith and Clubin Baer were held for hearing Thursday after a bombing at the Italian consulate. Schumy, another house painter, confessed to aiding the act as a gesture against Mussolini. He said he and others planned the protest at a furriers unions center nearby, causing injuries and property damage.
