Couple killed in North Haven shoe store holdup

Two gunmen pistol whipped and then killed a man and wife in a North Haven shoe store setting off a state police search with more than 20 officers. Two G I s Beaten Robbed In Easton

Two Army men from Fort Meade, Sgt. William Weaver and Specialist Carl Janzen, were beaten and robbed by three civilians after visiting a Bridgeport diner. Police report the pair were left in a wooded area and found by a local resident. They were taken to Bridgeport Hospital in fair condition.

An unexpected storm dumped three inches of snow overnight in Bridgeport with total expected to reach five inches by late morning. Slippery streets sparked several accidents. a 17-year-old girl died in Torrington after a two car crash while a Massachusetts woman was injured in Orange on Wilbur Cross parkway. The Merritt Parkway speed limit was reduced to 25 mph at 8 12 last night and two Bridgeport women were hurt in snow falls on sidewalks. Fayeth Snow and Bertha Barimas suffered injuries on local walks.

Fairfield Plant Damaged by Fire

Two Fairfield firefighters were overcome by smoke battling a blaze at the Max Ams Machine plant at Scofield avenue. The fire caused several thousand dollars in damage, mainly to machine parts and tools. work will be suspended today. Firefighters were treated and discharged. the cause is undetermined, with a fuse box suspected.

An American Airlines plane with 16 aboard crash landed on a woodsy hillside near Tulsa airport. A 7-year-old Tulsa girl died of injuries. nine others including three crew members were hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.
