Attendance at Band Concerts Slows City Funds
Bridgeport residents show scant interest in band concerts as a public expense. Superintendent Robert A. Leckie of the Board of Recreation told Civitan club members that summer performances at Seaside Park draw few attendees. He noted radio and automobiles reduce demand, and contrasted this with an Independence Day concert. Leckie dismissed claims over bands earning high wages, citing broader public indifference.
