Rhode Island boy held up market then captured in Groton
A 13 year old Rhode Island youth entered a Westerly market at 8 40 p m and brandished a sawed off shotgun demanding money. State troopers pursued the suspect to the Groton end of the New London bridge where he was taken into custody with drawn guns after a chase lasting about 75 minutes.

Jennie Wheeler Dies at 79 in Bridgeport Home
Mrs. Jennie Hawley Wheeler, 78, widow of Robert E. Wheeler of 81 Sterling Place, died yesterday at home. Services Thursday at 2 p.m. in Howland Memorial chapel, United Congregational Church, Park Avenue and State Street, with Dr. Wallace Anderson officiating. Burial in Mountain Grove cemetery. Wheeler was longtime church organist and studied in London, Paris, and San Sulpier with Charles Widor. She played at United Congregational, Universalist in Bridgeport, and First Baptist in Stratford. She belonged to several clubs and was a trustee of the Bridgeport Protestant Widows association.

City approves final budget with welfare boost and 38.5 mills tax
