State Department Snow Removal to Cost About $40,000
The state highway department estimated snow clearance would cost about $40,000 as crews of nearly 100 men with motor trucks and plows worked through Hartford to Meriden and other trunk lines. Most routes opened. only Hartford area lines needed more time. Superintendent W. Leroy Ulrich noted the task centers on breaking drifts and leveling snow to passable depths, not extensive shovel work in cities.
