Hartford police shoot alleged burglar George F Bersig after a car with theater money is found in Front street. Bersig, 27, a former grocery store owner, fought police, was wounded in the lung, and hospitalized at St Francis hospital. Mexicans arrest Catholic bishop in Tamaulipas

Mexico City February 20. Bishop Joan Maria Armoru of Tamaulipas and Frederic Escobar are arrested after hiding at Escobar home. Police say charges to be announced after attorney general citation. A priest Manuel Campa and a man Principiano Garza were also arrested and brought to Mexico City in a case tied to Mexican religious laws.

Springs, Father of Writer, Shot on Charlotte Main Street

On February 20 in Charlotte North Carolina T Leroy Springs wealthy cotton manufacturer was shot in the cheek by Eldred Griffith a cotton buyer and former employee. The attack began after a business misunderstanding as the men spoke near a drug store. Springs fled across the street where Griffith pursued and fired twice more before a crowd restrained him. Springs was hospitalized with a scalp wound and expected to recover in a few weeks.

New Roads Voted For Outskirts By Aldermen

New Roads on the citys outskirts were approved by the Board of Aldermen after a council action ordering paving on Sylvan and Soundview avenues and Madison avenue to the city line. A $30 000 appropriation request will go to the Board of Apportionment and Taxation for the preliminary tax rate, with $25 000 earmarked for Sylvan and Soundview paving and a smaller share for Madison avenue. Two Men Shot On Main Street Fracas Ends In Pursuit

In a Main Street shooting near South Avenue last night one man was hit in the arm and leg while an innocent bystander received a ankle wound. Rollin Lawrence of 436 Main Street and Lee were among the injured. Police swarmed the area as detectives searched for the assailant, described as a man in a 32 calibre firearm. The motive appeared linked to a domestic dispute involving a woman, with the suspect fled before authorities arrived.
