Joyce Jones Shot Self After Argument in Newtown Park
Joyce Jones 28, of Bridgeport, was critically wounded by a .38 caliber pistol after a quarrel with Lawnson R. Corbit Sr. at a hilltop parking spot near Newtown center. Corbit said she fired twice from the car window, then a final shot at herself, and was taken to Danbury hospital. He, shaken, said they had dated about five years and he was trying to break off.

Bandit in Red Bandana Robs William Street Liquor Store
