Yale appoints Chittenden to five year term director
New Haven ed 18. Yale Corporation reappoints Professor Russell H. Chittenden as director of the Sheffield Scientific School for a five year term. John T. Black health commissioner and Dr Walter H. H. Brown health officer of Bridgeport named as lecturers on public health for the next year. Gifts include 5000 from Robert W Wesley of New York for ROTC work and 14000 from Anson Conger Goodyear of Buffalo toward the Yale armory.

Appoint Commission to Study Non-Sinkable Ships
Secretary Daniels announced a special board of officers headed by Rear Admiral A. Ch. Winterhalter to study non-sinkable ships and the buoyancy box construction on the former Austrian steamer Lucia to aim for torpedo proof. The board includes Captain O. W. Coesser naval constructor Robert Stocker and William G. DuBose, with one officer to be named. 800 people drowned in a Zululand flood near Somkele Mazude in Transvaal.
