Calhoun Recovering After Appendicitis Operation
Charles K Calhoun of 449 Colmido Avenue, general secretary of the MCA, is resting well at Bridgeport Hospital after an acute appendicitis operation. Wheeler Named Head Of State Humane Society
Charles Be Wheeler of Stratford was named general manager of the Connecticut State Humane Society to replace the late BH Preston. Wheeler, a former Stratford representative in 1924 25 and senator in 1927, will begin with four days weekly and may devote full time to executive duties later. The appointment was announced by Charles A Goodwin, president of the society. In 1927 Wheeler chaired the Labor committee and Shell Fisheries committee and served on Appropriations and Senate appointments. He currently sits on the State Board of Fisheries and Game and the state commission on forests and wildlife. Private Corliss Conley of Kenton Ky U S M C was killed by accidental rifle discharge at Managua Nicaragua.
