Sustaining Member Dinner for Scouting in Stratford
The Oronoque district of Pomperaug council, Boy Scouts of America, begins its 1967 sustaining membership enrollment drive with a kickoff at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in Nichols School. Chairman Jet Turner and special membership chair Ralph Lightfoot urge all residents to attend and support a program that funds Scouting through a sustaining membership. District executive Thomas Knowles notes costs vary by means, and sustaining memberships bridge the gap between Scouting costs and United Fund support. Local volunteers from area communities join committees for promotion, publicizing, and clerical tasks across the drive through Stratford churches and across Lordship Community Church venues.

The Stratford Housing Authority invites bids to repair fire damage in a five room PHA aided apartment in Conn. bids due 11 am tomorrow at SHA administration 98 Gregory Circle and opening follows. Myron Rosenbluth says the winner must start work immediately. Sterling Council elects officers including Robert Switzgable president Allen Barrows vice president Allen Vermilya treasurer and Betty Anne Hunziker secretary at a recent meeting in the community center.

Scouts to Dedicate Cross for W. M. Tilton
Boy Scouts of Troop 8 will dedicate a cross in memory of William M. Tilton at the New Field Methodist Church service at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Tilton, scoutmaster for 56 years, died last August, with Scoutmaster Glenn Holden announcing the ceremony at 1243 Stratford Avenue.
