Napoleon's prison at Saint Helena Longwood House
The Longwood Old House on Saint Helena, four miles from Jamestown, remains roughly in its Napoleon era condition. The one story, ivy shaded dwelling is small, musty, poorly lit and ventilated, with the reception room noted as the place of the emperor's death. Nearby are the tarret rooms, garden, arbor, fishpool, Geranium Valley, and Napoleon's tomb. the site was bequeathed to Napoleon III by Queen Victoria in 1858.

Roanoke Island Map Ties to Sir Walter Raleigh Story

Today the island houses fishermen and Coast Guard personnel, including a Black crew at Peak Island station, facing a hazardous coast and derelict shipwrecks.
