US ready to try again on Pueblo release talks

The United States says it will again seek release of the Pueblo and its 83 crew via the Panmunjom armistice commission after North Korea hinted it could solve the matter by talks. State Department and White House officials emphasized the aim is the vessel and crew, not threats, with past delays noted.

ABCD's Main Office May Move to FPV

ABCD may relocate its main office from 258 Golden Hill Street in Bridgeport to Father Panik Village East Side. House Passes Interest Disclosure Bill By Large Margin

The House approved 382 to 4 a bill requiring plain language disclosures of interest and finance charges to customers and borrowers. It would limit wage garnishment and align state usury laws with federal enforcement, targeting loan shark activity. Fairfield Board Approves Near 600000 Teacher Pay Pact

The Fairfield Board of Education approved a near 600000 one year contract with the Fairfield Education Association after sessions starting in November. Superintendent Dr Joseph Zapytowski said the revised salary schedule total 592420 including fringe benefits, with normal increments raising teacher salaries to 731270 for the new school year. About 638 teachers and administrators are affected by the agreement which is about 33000 under the original proposal.
