The article recalls rector Mr Chapman who opened his rectory to crippled and orphaned children in 1908. He provided shelter, food, and care, with a strict yet gentle discipline, aided by young workers. The venture grew, with visits from supporters, a garden for sustenance, and a dog guardian, creating a nurturing, multi creedal community for the youngsters.
