Germany Pays Dawes Plan Reparations in First Year
Germany fulfilled the Dawes plan first year duty by paying one billion gold marks to Allied creditors. The Agent General for Reparations distributed the funds, with France receiving the largest chunk at about 428.93 million gold marks. Britain and Belgium also received sizable sums while other nations got smaller amounts. Total receipts to the Reparations Fund for the year ending last September were about 100.46 million gold marks after credits and commodity deliveries. Germany financed the loan primarily through cash proceeds and railway revenues, with no industrial earnings or tax funds diverted to reparations.
