Alien Karl Muck Praises America

Merlin, Dec 28. Dr Karl Marek former conductor of the Tie Toston symphony orchestra was accorded treatment during his sixteen months' in vorpment as an enemy alien in the United States. He said he was directed the Boston Symphony Orchestra when the war broke out and that at times he was unmolested. In March 1918 he was sent to prison camp with 4,500 other enemies. He praised the humane treatment but complained of crowded conditions and lack of kitchen facilities for many prisoners. He indicated no conditions were imposed on prisoners to leave the U.S. for Germany and that he eventually left with his wife's urging. His future plans are uncertain, but he would not remain in Berlin and considered Switzerland or Graz as possible places to live with his wife's agent’s help.
