Hoover mobilizes public in drive against high rubber prices

Secretary Hoover launches a broad campaign backed by the National Rubber Association and the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce to curb rubber tire usage. He cites artificial price manipulation by East Indian exporters and British export restrictions, urging garages, service stations, and car owners to reduce consumption to counter the $70,000,000 excess charged to U S buyers. The effort complements congressional inquiries into foreign monopolies and aims to streamline rubber purchasing through a single agency.
