Johnson campaign opens January third in Cleveland

Senator Afram W. Johnson’s Republican bid will launch with a mass meeting at the Masonic auditorium in Cleveland on January 3. California Senate organization will form, with campaign HQs planned near the city during the national convention. Frank A. Hitchcock said Cleveland offices will aid Ohio organization until a state executive is formed.

Postpone Christmas Party of Obeh Grotto

The annual Christmas party of Obeh Grotto, to be held December 4, is postponed due to other activities. The grotto plans to still visit the Bart Orphan Asylum and distribute candy fruit and gifts to children, with a date hoped to be Christmas Day but not yet set.

Charles F Lockwood of Easton Dies in City

Charles F Lockwood of Easton died in a Bridgeport private institution this afternoon after a long illness. He was born on a Maston farm nearly 60 years ago and was never married. He leaves no immediate family. Funeral Saturday at 2 pm from Henry H Bishop's mortuary chapel 274 Fairfield Avenue Bridgeport Rev Henry McCallum will officiate. Burial will be in Center Street Cemetery Easton.

Legion to Install Officers January 7 at Golden Hill Club

Officers of Harry W. Congdon No 11 American Legion to be installed Monday evening January 7 by State Commander Armstrong and staff at the clubhouses on Golden Hill street. Easton dispatch says Mrs. William Kachele of Bethel died this afternoon at her brother Conrad Galls home. She was about 48, the result of heavy trouble. Ten left for home as news spread.
