West End blaze destroys garage and threatens tenement
A two alarm fire last night gutted a garage and barn at 731 733 Wordin Avenue, destroying four automobiles, a motorcycle, and much furniture. The flames spread to a nearby six family tenement, endangering residents and forcing a rapid evacuation as firemen battled the blaze for two hours. Lieutenant Berry was injured by a falling beam during rescue efforts.
