Senate Debates Energy Research Bill Delay Proposal

Washington AP reports the Senate rejected efforts to delay the $20 billion ten year energy research program. Sen. Percy urged delaying until ERDA legislation clears House. Sen. Jackson defended moving ahead, arguing the administration plan is flawed and study needed.

Injured Navy Trumpeter Wins $77 640 in Suit

Edward G Petersen a 26 year old Navy Band trumpet soloist won 77 040 in damages after a small speedboat collided with a 9 foot long company barge in the Potomac River injuring his lips and jaw He lost his ability to play the horn but has since regained normal jaw use for speaking and appearance The court also ordered the company to pay 6000 to a passenger and 1300 to the federal government for hospital treatment at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
