Madrid reports that civilian government is restored in Spain after the 1923 coup that toppled the Alhucemas ministry. General Primo de Rivera remains premier at the head of a new cabinet with Martines Anido interior minister and other appointments including foreign, finance, justice, war, marine, education, labor, and state ministers.
Washington December 2 The nine member board appointed by President Roosevelt to study American air power recommends expansion of military and naval aviation without creating a separate defense department or a unified air service It calls for three more assistant secretaryships army and navy aviation representation on the army staff and in the offices of naval air operations and the bureau of navigation a designation of the army air service as an army air corps two more brigadier generals for the army air corps continuation of flight pay and support for commercial aviation through airways and air posts along with limits on civil aviation competition.
Senator Bingham of Connecticut lauds the aviation study by the presidential board. He says the panel, led by varied experts, reached a conscientious conclusion and will propose three new secretaries to coordinate aviation efforts across War and other departments. The members worked long hours to uncover the truth on America's aircraft situation.
Conferences today between administration leaders and John T. King will decide the salary increases for the 331 officers in the combined Police and Fire departments. Fire department demands would total 149000 additional annual expenditure, with proposed raises from 500 to 1500 for ranks, though large increases likely trimmed.
In Danbury Bethel area a bus driver was robbed by two masked youths. Joseph Harriman, brother of Mrs. William K. Vanderbilt, son of Oliver Harriman, died at his Newport home after a brief pneumonia. Leo i Wall of 944 East Main Street Waterbury died at St Marys Hospital Waterbury at 10 45 last night from burns sustained in an automobile accident five weeks earlier near Web ers on the Naugatuck road when his car side swiped a second car and plunged down an embankment struck by a passing trolley The driver Paul Kampner of State Paint and Paper Co Waterbury was driving the other car Wall was badly burned head arms and upper body but had no broken bones He leaves a wife and five children
Hartford reports Gerald Chapman, convicted robber and murderer, asked a federal judge for a writ of habeas corpus to avoid execution. The decision by Judge Edwin Thomas will determine if he returns to Atlanta for a 25 year federal sentence or is hanged by Connecticut for the 1924 New Britain policeman murder. Chapman’s appearance showed a subdued figure as both sides argued jurisdiction and appeals options.
Dec 2 special report says J Henry Roraback and State Senator Alice Merritt of Hartford were principal speakers at a Stratford Town committee dinner at the Masonic Temple. Also present were Rep Charles J Wheeler chairing the Town committee and Rep Mrs Helen F Lewis amid about 101 guests.

A Bridgeport jury awarded the city 98,805.05 dollars in a landmark bridge delay dispute over the Brentford avenue bridge. In a disturbance at 111 Merriam Street, Charles King forty five fought with his father in law WW F Eunst seventy one. Eunst was killed by a knife blow about 6 30 PM. King was wounded and taken to St Vincent's Hospital with a fractured skull. Coroner's inquest pending autopsy to determine death cause.
Norwalk High School pupils Sadie Shilepsky and Nellie Atanish were suspended for one month by the Board of Education after a party linked to the death of Edward Kelley on West Avenue near Buller Avenue on November 7. Kelley died from a skull fracture after the Plymouth street car collided with a truck. driver Leroy Parker faces criminal proceedings. The girls, slightly injured in the crash, will work at home and resume in class by January 1.
