Fairfield road contract awarded to Danbury and New Haven firms

State Highway Commissioner John A Macdonald announced contracts for Fairfield road and bridge work. A crowded Southern railway train derailed 20 miles southeast of London killing eleven passengers and injuring twenty or more as heavy rains likely softened the railbed.
