Public Disarming Parley Session Blocked by President

Washington August 28 The drive for open sessions at the disarmament congress suffered two setbacks. President Stardling opposed open sittings and his Senate allies forced the withdrawal of the Harrison amendment to the deficiency bill which would have instructed delegates to insist on open conferences. Senator Lodge called the move a breach of propriety and said it would be futile bad manners and amount to nothing while also noting some support for publicity where it serves the public interest.

Union Man Seeks 5000 Damages From Employer

Irving J. Richards filed a $5,000 damages suit against Moore Drop Forging Company of Springfield alleging discharge for joining a labor union. He says he had a four year apprenticeship contract that was broken after he joined the union, noting the company has long been at odds with unions over individual contracts.

United States Clarinet Judge Tuttle made permanent a temporary injunction restraining customs and internal revenue officials from interfering with shipments of whiskey from Canada through the United States to destinations in foreign countries. Duped Millionaire Pleads For Family

Chicago August 28 federal agents disclosed a six page letter from former Cleveland Cement executive Davis writing to Worthington Fronell and associates seeking the return of about 2.6 million dollars allegedly taken in a large swindle. The letter, intercepted at a Chicago hotel, quotes Davis begging for funds to care for his family as others dependent on him face hardship. Davis claims he was duped by the ring leaders and asserts he is not responsible for the loss. Indicted alongside Worthington Fronell are Davis, Owen Sullivan and Alvi Houghman.

The Fritz and Tawley company along with Ithodes can ty Parlors occupy Nos 1058 to 1060 Main Street after a deal announced yesterday. Max Hueehler agreed to a ten year lease valued around 150000 dollars.
