McQuillan Faces Show Cause Order Over Alimony

New York Aug 21 The Supreme Court Justice in Brooklyn signed an order requiring Hugh McQuillan pitcher of the Giants to show cause why he should not be held in contempt for failing to pay $500 temporary alimony due August 15. McQuillan has been suspended without pay for two months for not being in proper playing condition. John McGraw said he had seen the pitcher only once in that period and did not know his whereabouts. He could return as soon as he proves condition to resume regular pitching.

John Goebel a wealthy Miami real estate dealer faced a coroners jury finding and was charged with first degree murder in the case of Mrs HB Hunt. Newport Rhode Island August 81 AP The Mackinac excur sion steamer explosion has claimed 46 lives including Edward Donovan of 16 Mineral Springs Avenue Pawtucket and three others reported today. Theatre managers in Bridgeport told to report film listings

Fire Hits Millinery Shop Causes Hours of Damage

A fire at Miss Haggerty’s millinery shop on Stratford Avenue spread to the basement and near stock of white hats. Firemen flooded the basement and kept the blaze from major spread though the extent of loss remains undetermined.
