Mrs. A. H. Watson of Nichols hosts a lawn fete at her home to benefit Trinity church guild. Activities begin at six with a cafeteria supper and child grab bag, plus various games and prizes. If rain delays, the event will move to the first clear night with Japanese lanterns and decor on the grounds.

Jitney Loses Wheel Passengers Thrown
Monroe Aug 2 Special to the Telegram A loosened front wheel of the jitney between here and Bridgeport caused a near overturn early tonight. About a dozen passengers were thrown into a heap or onto the ground. Wingfield Humber of New York sustained minor injuries as did Mrs Hattie Humber who required medical aid.

Grotto Bands to Furnish Music For Field Day
The New England Grotto association will host a field day with performances by visiting bands from Fall River Providence Newport and Hartford led by John S Austin Dreessor of Obeh Grotto Band. About 10 000 prophets are expected with events spanning Friday opening ceremonies Saturday parade and a public barbecue at Seaside Park.

Poli gains five year lease on the Park theatre from the corporation controlling the property. S. 4 Pall now controls six Bridgeport theatres. Lease negotiated by Gauss M. Danbury Attorney Sues Client for Unpaid Fee

Manila mayor accused amid former conviction charge
A cable from Manuel Quezon to Washington charged that Hulagio Rodrigues, newly named mayor of Manila, was convicted in 1900 by a military court and imprisoned for one year. Gen Wood said he knew nothing unfavorable about Rodrigues and will thoroughly investigate the case. A Manila press report linked Rodrigues to the death of J P Barry, but no conviction record was found.

Mrs Frances Henneberger Kearney wife of musician Francis Kearney faced theft charges for allegedly stealing 2200 from neighbor William O Connell a former internal revenue agent in Bridgeport. The case was bound over to September term of the Superior Court as her attorney Paul Gonnery entered a demurrer later overruled Health concerns cited by defense. Family members reportedly reimbursed the loss and the case may not proceed to trial.
