Alsop urges aid for small firms in state program

Three Year Project Aims At Damping Hurricanes Fury

Washington reports a Navy Weather Bureau led plan named Project Sinentury aims to reduce hurricane damage over three years. The program expands a six year study using silver iodide seeding to alter storm intensity, directed by FW Reichelderfer and Capt. W R Franklin. Berserk Man Damages West End Church Altar and Statues

A West End man, Jose Gonzalez, smashed the altar, statues, railings, and other church items at the Lady of Providence Church on 550 Bostwick Avenue around 1 PM. He was examined at the scene, then taken to Bridgeport Hospital and later to Fairfield State Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He entered the building after speaking with a housekeeper, and police took him into custody as damage was assessed.
