Trains Ram in Florida Injures 125 Plus in Crash
In Winter Haven Florida more than 125 people were injured when the northbound Silver Meteor plowed into a waiting southbound train on the main track two miles south of the city. More than 100 were treated at Winter Haven Hospital with 21 admitted and 81 released. Passengers were rushed to Lakeland Like Wales Haines City and Bartow. One passenger, Charles A Edison 78 of New York City a former New Jersey governor and son of Thomas Edison, was among the injured. Cause under investigation with possible faulty switch or dispatcher error. Train crews described helplessness as the collision occurred. Officials cleared wreckage and began removing cars.
