Local Rotarians Entertained by Master Magician
Local Rotarians attended a luncheon at the Stratfield where Blackstone the magician performed card tricks and demonstrations before about 190 Rotarians led by J L M Pawileit, with Lynn Wilson introducing the wizard. A meeting at the Hermits Club on Cannon Street next Saturday will feature Anthony Ambrose, president of the Czech Slovakia Commercial Corporation, speaking on European conditions. Attendees included Dr Tirecarin, Postmaster Greene, Daniel M. Jones of D M Read, G L Treadwell, Stites E Goodsell, and John Stanley, president of the Police board.

Three Fire Attempts Thwarted at Portsmouth Church
Incendiary attacks on the church of the Immaculate Conception in Portsmouth, New Hampshire were stopped after two basement fires were put out and a third failed. A pastor found a blaze at a small altar area and another near a gas meter. oil soaked material and newspapers were found in the boiler room. Fire officials said the fires burned for about half an hour with little damage.

Death of Girl Struck by Truck in Pequonnock Street
Coroner Waroner J. Jee Phelan ruled the death of Cheebe Nichols aged SX years at 513 Pequonnock Street an accident. The girl ran from behind a sewer cleaning machine into the path of a truck owned by Lacke Steel Belt Co driven by Ernest Lindberg. The coroner found the driver did all he could and found no carelessness.
