Tax Commissioner H Blodgett will resume the tax investigation with a second hearing next Monday in the county courthouse. No subpoenas are needed for Board of Assessors and Board of Relief members previously cross examined on March 13. The hearing may be morning or afternoon and will likely not summon former office holders.
The Park Board voted unanimously to permit the American Legion post to hold a carnival at Beechwood Park on Madison Avenue side, citing patriotic aims and prior season rules. They denied the Ninth District Republican club permit for use of park property, reinforcing a year old rule banning carnivals.

The vases of Edward Cillett and George Shaw tied to an arson at Alma Holmgren’s Milford cornpike farm. Eight cows died in the March 29 fire that destroyed farmhouse and barn. Albany April 1 8 The Associated Press reports Governor Alfred L. Smith of New York was acclaimed as the Democratic presidential candidate at the state convention. Two resolutions launched his candidacy by urging the eight delegates and eight alternates at large to support him loyally at the national convention. Smith spoke to delegates saying he had not sought the honor but would accept if votes were enough, signaling party momentum for the next campaign. Continued on Page Eleven.
