Urge Protection For Alaska Waterways Sparks Patriotism Meet
Washington April 11 protection for Alaska gateway waters by coast and harbor charting was urged in a special coast and geodetic survey bulletin. With 26 000 miles of coast Alaska cannot be developed without accurate surveys as ships transport vast trade. 224 American vessels were lost in Alaskan waters in 20 years. A Stratford patriotic meeting at Lordship schoolhouse followed, with remarks by Mrs Ruth Kilpatrick and Stratford branch leaders about national defense work and Liberty Bond sales. The Stratford High School tennis schedule and an arithmetic speed test in schools were also noted, along with a brief snippet about Liberty Bond sellers.
