Westport Road Bridge Plans Overtaken by Weather and Talks
The state Bridges Roads and Highways committee did not visit Westport as scheduled and will return early next week to inspect sites for a new bridge in the lower town. They will study a state road linking Wilton and Westport via Springhill and Wilton roads while public sentiment favors retaining Bridge Street in Saugatuck. Local residents Mulhaley and Smith returned from a Block Island codfish trip. Smith plans an Egypt cruise soon. The Neighborhood Nature Club met with Mrs Eva Mae Downes at the Peacock Teahouse. Peter Maurer resigned from the Connecticut company local branch for a position with Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. The Westport Red Cross met on State Street and basketry classes convened at the Library.
