Burglars broke into the Austin Nichels and Company wholesale grocery house at 80 1 Water street on Saturday night. They ransacked the place and goods missing will be determined after a police check today. A rear door entry via a smashed window is noted in the incident.

Fairfield April 1 Four gallons of alleged home brew and 175 gallons of mash were found when Constable H L R Elwood entered the Warren street home of John Stanowich to arrest him over a hold up in which Emery Veres was beaten and robbed of $229. Stanowich was arrested and later freed on a $600 bond. His case will be heard in Fairfield Town Court tomorrow. Elwood is pursuing another suspect and expects another arrest shortly.

New York April 1 Reverend Dr. Percy Stickney Grant urged in an East River church sermon that industrial democracies will replace political democracies within decades. He predicted nationalization of industries, said his views are not Bolshevik, and noted England is ahead in liberal thinking. He spoke after controversy over his liberal interpretations.
In New York on April 1 another body was removed from the Oldridge street building collapse, raising the death toll to two with twelve injured. Earlier reports said all workmen were accounted for. The recovered body was believed to be Serry Tinato of West Hoboken No 1.
