Non Union Hatters Brace For Blackball Fight
Berg and company plan to relocate from Orange, New Jersey to Norwalk, claiming they can recruit 300 workers locally or elsewhere. Union action at a special meeting led by Michael F. Green produced a weakly supported move to bar Berg shop, with only about a dozen of 100 attendees favoring blackball. Norwalk remembers its hatting heyday and cautions that strikes shifted production to Danbury, leaving Norwalk behind.
