Bridgeport Sees Unemployment Drop Amid Labor Demand
Unemployment in Bridgeport has been nearly wiped out due to strong labor demand and U S Employment Service efforts. Federal director David Allen reported about 1,000 unemployed in the city, down from 6,900 five weeks ago, with local manufacturers noting robust hiring. The statewide pattern mirrors this revival as the armistice aftermath fades and prosperity returns, though a few hundred unskilled workers remain unemployed for a short period.
