Devon Special Town Meeting Debates $50,000 Highway Bond
Devon voters prepare for a special town meeting Tuesday to consider a report from the Board of Finance proposing a $50,000 bond appropriation to build a permanent highway from the Devon railroad station to Broderick's corner Myrtle Beach. The measure, in addition to $9,500 already set for road work, faces opposition but is expected to pass with strong support from taxpayers. Other items include the Welcome Home reception in August, land settlement for back taxes on Nell's Island, and a street-name change request by the Board of Wire Commissioners.
