A narrator hosts Marjorie Boyd for dinner amid a tense unwrapping of a gift and a delayed arrival. The two ride and chat by road, worry about a husband’s return, and rush home to avoid his anger before revealing a promised pivotal scene: the hanging of a picture tomorrow.
White hydrangeas will decorate Mrs. E N Sperry's dining room at noon for a luncheon followed by bridge on the porches and lawn. Guests include Mrs. Alfred Y. Fones, Mrs. Jack Wheeler, Mrs. Harvey Hubbell, Mrs. Paul Havland, and many others.
The transport Manitou arrived today from Brest with 98 officers and 2,106 troops. Units aboard include the 22nd Engineers, 107th Camp Hospital, first battalion military police, several headquarters and medical detachments A B and GO, the 369th and 260th regiments, and the 669th aero squadron.

Rome July 10 The Italian government plans to maintain order firmly and hasten peace negotiations to conclude a settlement aligning with Italian national aspirations. It intends to transform from war to peace, abolish wartime measures, lower prices to ease hardship, and rapidly prepare needed financial reforms while ensuring public order. The Chamber of Labor urged citizens to return to work after securing a 50 percent price reduction for essentials.
Members of Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce retail subdivision formed 15 classes for local trade. Each group will elect a chairman who joins a 14 member general committee to address merchant concerns.
