Two Bridgeport Fire Department captains will be promoted to assistant chief at Tuesday night’s Fire Board meeting. Capt. John P. May and Capt. Percy M. Searles will receive the ranks after Civil Service certification. Searles joined the department in 1907, marking over 40 years of service. Other promotions include Lieut. William Davis to captain, Joseph V. Addenbrooke to lieutenant, and Joseph Fabry to pumper engineer.

Girl Hit By Auto On Fairfield Ave
A 14 year old girl named Grace Brady, daughter of Mrs. Mary E. Brady of 166 Deacon Street, was struck crossing Fairfield Avenue Pacanow Street with her mother about 5 45 yesterday. She sustained a possible skull fracture concussion and multiple bruises. Grace was taken by City ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital where her condition was reported as fair.

Federal grand jury to hear Fairfield county employees
A sizable group of present and former Fairfield county staff of Frank M. Kraemer, Connecticut internal revenue collector, are expected to testify before a federal grand jury in New Haven this week. The panel will probe alleged political pressure to fund the Democratic campaign in 1946, with about 125 to 600 witnesses having appeared. About 150 are anticipated to be examined, including Bernard J. Fagan of Milford Lucille Morris of Bridgeport and former Stamford mayor Edward J. Gounaud. Ralph A. Father Dies While Watching Stamford Victory
Stamford, Nov. 15 Martin Leary 55 died of a heart attack at Boyle Stadium as his son Bobby Leary led Stamford High to a 33-6 win over Norwalk High. The elder Leary collapsed in the first half and was taken by ambulance. Bobby continued playing unaware of the tragedy. He survives with wife Josephine and four sons Martin Jr William and Arthur who is stationed in China.

Drive to Save Fuels Opened By Governor
Governor McConsughy urged Connecticut residents to conserve fuel and stockpile reserves to avert shortages this winter.
