Coal Miners Heritage Festival Heads to Bridgeport Saturday

The 2005 Coal Miners Heritage Festival returns to Halsell Street and Harwood Park in downtown Bridgeport. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Historical Society, the event blends Coal Miner’s Day and PumpkinFest with industrial roots on display. Activities start at 9:00 a.m. with Hassell Street closures from 6:00 p.m. Friday to 5:30 p.m. Saturday plus vendor setup. About 50 vendors have confirmed participation.

OAL Miners Heritage Festival Vendors Set For Saturday

Bridgeport extends a call for vendors to join the OAL Miners Heritage Festival with setups allowed after 6:00 p.m. Friday and must be ready by 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Late registrations are welcome via the Bridgeport Chamber office. Vendors stay open until 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

Halsell Street Closure for Saturday Heritage Festival

Halsell Street between Ninth and 12th Streets will close to traffic from 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, September 24, for the 2005 Coal Miners Heritage Festival. The closure follows a request by the Bridgeport City Council and Texas Department of Transportation approval. Heritage Festival committee will mark vendor locations after closure. move-in begins, with no overnight security by sponsors. Setup continues through 8:30 a.m. Saturday. vendors relocate vehicles off Halsell Street before festival activities start at 9:00 a.m.

Bridgeport appoints Van James as city administrator

Bridgeport City Council selected Flower Mound Town Manager Van James as the new Bridgeport City Administrator at the regular meeting on Tuesday September 20. Interim administrator Rachel Huitt expects James to start in mid to late October, filling the vacancy left by the former city administrator.
