Mrs. L M Pate recalls a lighthearted joke involving Lloyd McAnear who had borrowed a hammer and later a hand saw from her home. The tale ends with Lloyd pretending offense when accused of theft and finally laughing, leaving Mrs Pate relieved but amused by the prank.
A Dairy Breeding Program will be held Tuesday September 10 at two Wise County sites. Morning session 10:00 at Kenneth Lambert's farm south of Decatur on FM 730. afternoon 1:30 at Jack Shepherd's farm south of Boyd off FM 730. Both programs cover artificial insemination breeding programs, selecting the herd sire, reproductive problems and herd management records with experts from Texas A&M and local specialists.
Bridgeport public schools opened with 1142 students and 57 faculty, up 10 and one staff member from last year. D E Jones becomes Junior High principal as 15 new personnel join, including Hall Gayle Miller as high school principal and Donald C Majka as head coach.
The Dairy subcommittee of the Wise County Program Building Committee plans a meeting in Decatur with Johnnie Smith of Alvord as chairman. All dairymen and agri business interests in dairy breeding are invited to attend.
The Bridgeport Independent School District Board of Equalization will meet Saturday September 7 1968 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Bridgeport High School Bridgeport Texas. J K Smith Assessor-Collector.
Karen and Cindy Bryant daughters of Dr and Mrs David Bryant addressed the Bridgeport Lions Club at night. They returned from a Lions Club Youth Exchange trip to Sweden and shared color slides from the voyage.
The Texas Aeronautics Commission approved a $25,000 allocation for Bridgeport Municipal Airport at Runaway Bay. City officials George Harwood and Peter B. San Filippo announced the project, to be built on 92 acres deeded by Runaway Bay. Freese Nichols Endress of Fort Worth will design the runway, initially 60 by 3600 feet with expansion to 5400 feet. The site lies on RM road 2475 between Bridgeport and Runaway Bay.
