Trickel Leads in Bridgeport ISD Place 1 Runoff Fight
In the BISD Place 1 race Trickel 153 votes Craddock 113 with Stegall 73 and King 22. Early voting favored Trickel 40 to Craddock 25, Runaway Bay tilted Craddock 45 43, but Bridgeport reversed 70 43 for Trickel on Saturday. Total ballots 361 of about 6000 registered. Runoff date to be set by Tuesday board meeting.

Highway 380 Project Nears February Completion
Nelson with the Texas Department of Transportation says the Highway 380 widening from Bridgeport to Decatur should finish in February of next year, the contractor’s latest date. Construction began in September 2004, delayed by utility line issues, with progress now steady as eastbound lanes near completion and a traffic switch planned later this summer to begin on the westbound lanes. The project budget is about 31 million dollars.

Bridgeport police and Wise County deputies responded to a two hour standoff Friday at 1412 Cuba Road outside city limits. The man named Rickie Smith, reportedly intoxicated by illegal narcotics, was armed and threatened self harm as neighbors heard a gunshot after he reentered his residence.
