Six scholarship recipients were honored at the Wise County Roughneck banquet last Thursday. Recipients Beverly Lowry, Sharon Greenwood, Paul Milligan, Billy Culverhouse, Richard Garrison, and Doris Mitchell each receive over 400 dollar awards funded by oil industry firms.

Jones Trial Set May 29
Twenty two people met with District Attorney Bill Sullivant in the home of Mr and Mrs Billy Bob Simpson Friday afternoon. The group included youths at the scene the night Paul Simpson was fatally shot at Wizard Wells last November and their parents. Sullivant will lead the prosecution in the trial of R V Jones Wizard Wells grocer charged with the shooting. The trial is set for Monday May 29 in Jacksboro with Judge WA Hughes of Decatur presiding.

Agri-Business Banquet Draws Large Crowd in Wise County
A near capacity crowd filled Sally Martin Hall last Thursday to hear Dr Edward Uvacek of Texas A M University Extension speak on marketing techniques at the annual Agri-Business banquet. Introduced by Loyd Wood, with Bill Wiley as master of ceremonies, the event highlighted marketing charges as Uvacek used many slides. Two Bridgeport High School students earned top honors with Michael Paul Scroggins valedictorian and Gary Allen Orren salutatorian, among other graduates listed.

Holmes Faces Grand Jury Probe Over Postage Stamps
