A meeting held Thursday May 8 organized a gun club here and discussed initial plans.

Hospital District proposes a precinct 1 complex with rifle and pistol ranges trap and archery facilities plus other club buildings. Bill Slagle named temporary president and a committee will tour neighboring towns to inspect facilities and report next meeting. Thirty three attendees at a Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce sponsored gathering.

Burris Barber Shop New Owner In Bridgeport

George Burris becomes General Manager of Henderson & Henderson International Harvester in Bridgeport. Burris sold his Bridgeport barber shop to Bill Belyeu, who previously worked for Bedford Kennedy Trucking. Henderson and Henderson stocks a full line of International Harvester trucks and parts near the highway 114 overpass.

Bridgeport High Band Spring Concert Draws Full House

A large crowd attended the Bridgeport schools spring concert held Saturday night in the high school auditorium. Director Judy Mathis led the bands through a year of notable successes with a youthful ensemble of members about a few years younger than most peers.

Little League Assignments To Be Made

A major pre season meeting for Little League players and parents is set for Thursday at 6 30 PM at the Little League park. Boys who signed up will be assigned to teams and meet their manager and coaches. Lion's Club with D E Jones Jr principal directs the program with Women’s clubs aiding concessions. A bill to abolish the Wise County County Superintendent’s office at term end, started by the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, passed the Texas House last Wednesday and awaits Senate approval this week.

Bridgeport High Names 1969 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Gary Reed tops the Bridgeport Class of 1969 with a 94.36 four year average earning valedictorian honors. Cathy Briscoe earns salutatorian with a 93.53 average. Reed led the student body as president and held multiple class offices while Briscoe was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J W Briscoe.

Bridgeport Summer School Opens For Adults And Students

Bridgeport High School will host a two session summer program starting June 2 offering courses for students and adults contingent on a minimum class size of 20. Registration is May 26 29 30 from 7 30 am to 12 00 pm. Tuition ranges from 15 to 35 dollars per unit with driver education separate. Courses include English Algebra History Civics Driver Education Typewriting Biology and Physical Science.
