Democrats Meet In Decatur To Endorse Connally For National Delegation

A county Democratic convention convened in Decatur Saturday at 2 p.m. in the District Courtroom. Bridgeport attendees included Mayor George Harwood Sam Petty and Earl Frost, with eleven delegates present. Harwood named permanent chairman and the group backed Governor John Connally to lead Texas at the national convention. Six More Enter County Pageant Contestants Named

Wise County Contest organizers expect more entrants as Bridgeport prepares for the May 23 pageant in Bridgeport. The sole Bridgeport entrant is Miss Sharon Denton, daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Denton, 1707 Lanice Ave. Denton stands 5 ft 7 in, weighs 130 pounds, has hazel eyes, brown hair, and an olive complexion. A 1963 Bridgeport High School graduate with one year at Cisco Junior College, she trained with drill team at CJC.

Bridgeport City Council Holds Closed Session Over Electric Bill Irregularities

Bridgeport officials met in a closed session to discuss alleged irregularities in city employees’ electric bill payments. Reports claim some workers paid minimum or reduced bills for electricity used, with warnings issued on prior occasions five to six years ago.
