Firemen Seek 100 Percent Fund Increase From County
Wise County firemen led by President Mike Bement will ask the Commissioners Court on Monday for a doubling of county funds for fire protection from 14 400 to 28 800 annually. If approved each department would receive 200 monthly instead of 100 plus a share of the total.

Bridgeport Man Charged in School Vandalism Incident
A 20 year old Bridgeport man, Johnny Martinez, was arrested after a vehicle drove across the high school baseball field and rammed the football field fence before crossing the track. Officer Randy Singleton found a muffler and other car parts at the scene. Police matched the muffler windshield wiper and paint marks to the vehicle, with 416 feet of chain link fence damaged and an estimated loss of 1600 dollars.

Flatwood Seeks Incorporation Near Decatur
A petition signed by 49 Flatwood residents seeks incorporation of a six square mile area near Flatwood south of Decatur off Highway 51. Wise County Judge Charles Wilhite says the move has no stated purpose and may aim to deter annexation.
