Cowling Jr received Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce citizen of the year for service to school church and business interests He was postmaster from 1953 to 1970 served on the school board and led the Wise County Rural Water District He is a rural letter carrier and lives on a Bridgeport area farm with his wife Jane and four children The Bridgeport Youth Council discussed fundraising plans including a chili supper bake sale and a volleyball tournament with an open meeting scheduled for March 22 at Lions Hall
April 1 is deadline for entries in Wise County Our Little Miss and Wise County Miss La Petite contests to be held April 16 17 at Bridgeport High School auditorium. The Optic Club of Bridgeport sponsors four town hall meetings tonight March 25 to acquaint candidates for school trustee with the public. The informal program aims to promote understanding and informed voting. events begin at 9:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce installs its 1971 72 officers and directors at a banquet at Sally Maretin Hall. Gordon Taylor named President with Ed Cowling and Al Yeargin as vice presidents and Clint Muhlinghause as secretary. New three year directors include Muhlinghause Funk Selz Meyers.
