Bridgeport Band Wins German Stage Band Contest

Bridgeport High School Stage Band won first place in Class AA at the German Stage Band Contest on March 19, 1966. Three members named All Stars were Tommy Fletcher lead trumpet, Bill White lead trombone and solos, Carmen Escajeda tenor sax solo. Chaperones and drivers included J. Evans, M. Manoushagian, J. Boulware, Price Everett, and Wayne Billington.

Bridgeport Stage Band Plays Before Wise County Queen Contest

Bridgeport High School Stage Band delivered a 30 minute concert before the Wise County Queen Contest at the Decatur High School Auditorium during the youth fair event last night.

Acme Brick reports record 1965 sales and earnings rise

Acme Brick Company told stockholders at its 75th annual meeting in Fort Worth that 1965 net sales reached 22 355 198, up 6 2 percent from 1964, with earnings up 9 5 percent to 1 301 833 and 4 34 per share. Directors declared a 37 1 2 cent quarterly dividend and 25 percent cash dividend in 1965. Plans call for new facilities at Denton and Perth to raise annual production by about 60 million bricks to 465 million, with 23 plants and 29 sales offices in six states. A New Haven railroad ticket theft in Westport and an Ironworkers Union bridge move were also noted.
