The Paradise Future Farmers of America will hold its annual Parent Son Banquet on Friday March 18 1966 in the high school cafeteria. The event will honor members with outstanding achievements and recognize adults who have supported the FFA. Attending officers include Larry Moore Marion Weger Clarence Miles Arnold Womack Larry Hensley Dale Powers and Donald Norris. Also attending will be chapter sweetheart Mary Meadows.
Thieves robbed the Corner Drug store between midnight and 7 30 am taking narcotics including amphetamines and barbiturates valued at 349 73 dollars, plus cash, merchandise, and watches. Losses total about 866 15 with roof and ceiling repair, entry through the roof and air duct, tools left behind, and a safe entry with a hammer. Investigators from Wise County and Bridgeport pursue leads. the same store was robbed in 1952 before Martin P Hoefie became sole owner in 1956.
The Garden Club launches its project for the year by planning and planting flower beds and trees in City Park. Mrs Alma Oneal leads planning and planting with Johnny Smith preparing the soil. president Mrs Bertie Nolan oversees and donor Mrs Frank Collum contributes 200 dwarf canna bulbs.
Bridgeport sees a wind risky week with no fires as the fire department thanks residents for careful trash and grass burning. They urge ongoing vigilance during high wind days to prevent fires and protect the community.
The City Park Board is grateful for two checks of 25 dollars each. Mr. and Mrs. Clint Muhlinghouse and the Boonsville community are thanked for the contributions to the City Park Fund.
A luncheon sponsored by Cordova Grain for area dairymen was held Monday at the Minute Coffee Shop. Dr. Allen Heidebrecht, representing Paymaster Feeds, spoke on Feeding for More Milk, with company officials Monroe May and Wren Vineyard in attendance. Willis McClary visited relatives after a San Diego trip for Ling Temco Vought.
Navy WAVE Electronics Technician Seaman Patricia S Wood, daughter of Mr and Mrs Clayton F Wood of Route 1 Chico Texas, serves at Patuxent River Maryland. The air station hosts the Naval Air Test Center and the Naval Test Pilot School where new high performance aircraft and related systems are tested.
