A speech by Senator Percy of Illinois targets Alabama ex-Governor George Wallace, accusing him of offering weak race solutions and urging him to act like a true-blue American politician. The remark includes controversial suggestions about handling crime by blaming past white fear and implying accountability based on race.
A public meeting will be held in the Bridgeport High School Auditorium on Monday March 25 1968 at 730 PM to inform residents about oil and gas evaluation procedures affecting school taxes. Mr Wilson Hunt and others from Pritchard and Abbott office may attend to answer questions. all citizens are invited.
The Wise County 4H Dress Revue will be held Saturday March 16 at the Women's Building Judging runs 9 to 11 a.m. Modeling and pictures 11 a.m. to noon. Junior division includes girls 9 to 14 and Senior division 14 and up. Participants may bring guests must bring record books. Ribbons and awards will be presented by the Wise County Home Demonstration Council.
The Bridgeport School Board approved land in the Landwin Addition for a new junior high building. The 17.5 acre site costs 860 per acre with Blocks 13 4 and 15. two lots in Block 13 excluded. Zoning must change and street closures approved. meeting set for March 15 1968 at 7:30 PM invitingSandwin Addition owners to attend.
Two Bridgeport Valley Land ensembles won first place in Class AA at North Texas State University Denton. Director Roger Martin announced the First Division saxophone quartet featured Larry Johnnon Becky Ray Renda Canova and Linda Robinson. The Clarinet quartet included Pam Evans Harriet Cowling.
