Bridgeport girls defeated Stephenville 58 47 in Mineral Wells to reach the regional semifinals at Denton. They will face Alvarado Saturday at 1 15 p m at NTSU with regional finals set for 8 45 p m. The team carries a 25 5 overall record and 13 1 district mark.
About 34 hot rod enthusiasts met at the Lions Club in Bridgeport for a 2 00 p m organizational meeting. Jerry Bock was elected president, Bobby Young named vice president, and Beverly Smith chosen club secretary.
A new Sears Catalog Merchant Store opens in Bridgeport on Friday March 7 at 10:00 a.m. located at 1026 Halsell. Owner-manager Jerry Lynn Hooser announced the grand opening with remarks from the manager and his wife.

Five area churches joined with First Baptist Bridgeport to staged a Sunday music festival. Groups from Jacksboro Newark Boyd Gainesville Bowie and Bridgeport participated. North Central Area Baptist churches sent 139 participants including 7 soloists and one quartet with Mrs Louise Peyton and Larry Johnson cited for vocal performances.
Travis Findley of 510 Main Street Bridgeport suffered second and third degree burns on his hands and face when a boiler burner ignited at the Warren Petroleum plant. He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and reported in satisfactory condition on Wednesday.
A Chico heart patient Paige Allen age 38, daughter of Coach Jerry Allen, underwent open heart surgery in Houston three weeks ago with Dr Denton Cooley performing the operation. She was dismissed and later rushed to Bridgeport Hospital with bronchial pneumonia.
Ticket sales kickoff meeting for Scout-A-Rama is tonight March 6 at 7 30 at the Lions Club building. Scouts cubs and parents are urged to attend.
The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce banquet will be held Friday night March 21 at 7 p.m. in Sally Martin Hall at Lake Bridgeport Methodist Camp.新 president and four new directors will be announced. Bill Shelton of Fort Worth will speak on economic impact from the new regional airport near Grapevine.
